Second Part: From God to a healthy Self-Esteem - No to Suoicide
Second Part: From God to a Healthy Self-Esteem – No to Suicide
Should a person expose himself to the evil actions of others?
Matthew 24, Verse 40
Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.

Does God want one person to hurt another?
No. God does not want that. In His Word, God gives many pieces of advice and explicitly warns against treating others badly.
Colossians 3:19-21
3:19 |
|
Husbands, have love for your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
3:20 |
|
Children, do the orders of your fathers and mothers in all things, for this is pleasing to the Lord. |
3:21 |
|
Fathers, do not be hard on your children, so that their spirit may not be broken. |

God teaches us love, not hatred or violence against each other.
Furthermore, God says:
Romans 12:19
12:19 |
|
Do not give punishment for wrongs done to you, dear brothers, but give way to the wrath of God; for it is said in the holy Writings, Punishment is mine, I will give reward, says the Lord. |
https://www.o-bible.com/ob?version=bbe&book=rom&chapter=12
This does not mean that God simply lets injustice happen, but rather that He pays close attention to what happens to "the least of these."
God only asks of us in Romans 12:18:
12:18 |
|
As far as it is possible for you be at peace with all men. |
https://www.o-bible.com/ob?version=bbe&book=rom&chapter=12
To help us evaluate others, God gives us these words:
Matthew 7:20:
7:20 |
|
So by their fruits you will get knowledge of them. |
One can also say recognize them.
https://www.o-bible.com/ob?version=bbe&book=mat&chapter=7
So, it is neither good fruit nor a good deed to hit someone, to hurt someone—neither physically nor emotionally—to abuse or even to kill.
Does it make sense to expose oneself to such people, to be with them or to stay with them?
Luke 9:25
9:25 |
|
For what profit will a man have if he gets all the world, but undergoes loss or destruction himself? |

From the certainty that God loves us, has a good plan for our lives, and wishes us only good as a loving Father, arises the right to live even for an oppressed person.
Thus, what is written in John 8:36 becomes true:
8:36 |
|
If then the son makes you free, you will be truly free. |
https://www.o-bible.com/ob?version=bbe&book=jhn&chapter=8
Even though the Bible here mainly refers to freedom from sin, and elsewhere to freedom from the condemnation of death, one may also take the literal meaning of these words: that Christ sets free, as it says in Psalm 146:7:
146:7 |
|
Who gives their rights to those who are crushed down; and gives food to those who are in need of it: the Lord makes the prisoners free; |

It is okay to leave before falling into despair, before committing suicide and losing oneself.
Yes, one must forgive, yes, one should pray for one's enemies, yes, one should love one's enemies, but no, one should not expose oneself to them at the risk of losing one's soul, at the risk of beginning to hate, at the risk of falling into bitterness, where victims often become perpetrators.
It is often women who suffer in a bad relationship or marriage and thus often expose their children to the violence of their husbands or to alcoholism, thereby also endangering them. Drug addiction, one's own bad experiences, or inner bitterness can also be reasons why people become perpetrators.
Often, victims wish to help the perpetrators, not to leave them alone.
But before one can do that, one must first heal himself. Sometimes the only reasonable way is to keep a distance and help from afar. Without demonizing anyone, one must not close one's eyes to the fact that people do evil.
Yes, God has planted a good seed in every person, so there is good in everyone. But people also have free will, and some choose to do evil, in the worst case, to choose evil itself.
So often the only way left is to pray for these people from a safe distance and to ask God for help for them.
We must love our enemies, but we do not have to expose ourselves to them, because God loves us and does not want to see us suffer, just as a good father does not want to see his child suffer.
Romans 12:21
12:21 |
|
Do not let evil overcome you, but overcome evil by good. |
